Empire Corsair

All right, we all know that I'm not historically correct. I can promise you that you'll probably not stumble up on a painting of a lady wearing this in your "history of costume" books, but you've probably seen things a lot like it. For instance, if you look at ladies riding outfits in the 1800's, they'll wear a little jacket like this over a corset or a vest. This is the same idea as Spencer Jackets from the Regency Era. I'm just so inspired by gorgeous and feminine clothing, that I want to celebrate it, so that's what this is. It's very versatile, because it comes in a set of a wench corset and an empire corsair bodice with mini coat-tails in the back. You can wear either of them alone, and of course, together. The sharp diagonal lines of the collar and the bodice where it covers the wench corset are very eye-catching, and all the same, it's very elegant, with a touch of pirate. It's just about everything I ever wanted in all of my clothing growing up (and right now. Let's face it. I still play dress up.)

Price for the set: $150
